Introducing a full-featured yet affordable Ikelite LX5 underwater housing for the Panasonic Lumix LX-5 and Leica D-Lux 5 Camera.  Dive into underwater photography with our most compact true TTL camera system. The Compact Digital housing is high quality, extremely durable, and backed by Ikelite's long-standing reputation for excellence.   The housing includes iTTL conversion circuitry that puts perfect exposure at your fingertips with the use of Ikelite strobes, therefore eliminating the necessity of purchasing an external TTL converter!

Features of the Ikelite LX5 Housing:

• The compact, clear polycarbonate case provides visibility of its o-ring seals and corrosion-free performance up to a depth of 200ft (60m).
• Controls are provided for most camera functions and kept water-tight with Ikelite pioneered Quad-Ring seal glands--proven to be the most reliable method of sealing controls.
• A complete Ikelite system with lens ports will typically be less than half the price of comparable housings from other manufacturers!
• Two 12-24 threaded mounts on the bottom of the housing allow for the secure attachment of optional trays and lighting accessories.
• Using a sync cord to fire strobes allows for faster shooting, and uses less battery power
• Get true TTL with Ikelite strobes
• Port is 67mm threaded, for easy attachments of a wide-angle lens like the Dyron 14mm with dome, or the Bluewater+7, Subsee +5, or Subsee +10 macro diopters.

Camera's Built-in Flash.

An included flash diffuser improves lighting quality when the camera's built-in flash is used. A built-in flash is effective between 1-3 feet (0.3-0.9m) from the subject in clear conditions. For best results an external underwater strobe is recommended.
 

External Color Filters.

Color filters replace some of the reds, oranges and more natural tones that would otherwise be lost underwater. Effective in relatively shallow, sunny conditions. Available as #6441.41 for tropical blue water and #6441.81 for use in green water settings. For optimum results use in combination with manual white balance (see camera user guide for information on setting custom white balance).
 

External Underwater Strobes (Hard-Wired TTL).

Ikelite DS series Substrobes are industry favorites for their warm, even coverage and lightning fast recycle time. Unlike fiber-optic "TTL" systems, our conversion circuitry eliminates the need for the camera's built-in flash to fire. This dramatically improves recycle time and camera battery life allowing you to take more photos more quickly. We recommend convenient and affordable strobe with sync cord packages that provide everything you need to take advantage of true TTL exposure. A #9523.31 single or #9523.32 dual tray and handle is required for the attachment of an external strobe.

All current model DS strobes are fully compatible with this TTL system. Older DS50 or DS125 Substrobes may require circuitry updates.
 

External Underwater Strobes (Optical TTL).

The AF35 AutoFlash kit can be attached directly to the LX-5 housing and provides automatic "TTL" exposure by optical signal from the camera's built-in flash. The AF35 is slightly less powerful than the DS Substrobes and is not able to take advantage of the housing's built-in circuitry.
 

Non-Ikelite External Strobes.

Special sync cords are available to connect non-Ikelite strobes from Nikonos, Inon, and Sea & Sea. Non-Ikelite strobes can be used in manual modes only. Use of a non-Ikelite strobe bypasses the housing's built-in TTL circuitry.

Strobes with a slave feature can be triggered by the camera's flash or by an Ikelite Substrobe. An included flash deflector prevents the camera's flash from creating backscatter in the image.

Optional #9523.31 single or #9523.32 dual tray and handles is required for the attachment of an external strobe. The optional #9571.3 features a 1" (2.5cm) ball for attachment to the top of the release handle. This provides a mounting point for Ultralight, TLC, and other non-Ikelite arm systems.

Pro-V8 LED Video Lite.

For additional lighting when using the camera's movie mode and to aid in focus. For use with or without a color filter.

 

External Accessory Lenses.

An external wide angle conversion lens increases angle of coverage so you can get much closer to your subject while still fitting everything in the frame. By reducing the amount of water between the subject and your camera lens, the resulting image will be more crisp and colorful. Attach 67mm threaded #6420 Ikelite W-20, Inon Type II and Epoque wide angle or macro lenses directly to the front of the housing port. Bayonet mount lenses are not compatible with this housing.

Vignetting will be present with a wide angle lens attached. The LX-5 must be zoomed several stops to eliminate vignetting. Addition of an Ikelite W-20 or comparable wide angle lens will gain approximately 15-20% angle of view after zooming.
