Getting close with a Zen 4-inch glass port

I’ve really grown fond of my Zen 4-inch glass dome port for the Tokina 10-17mm. Zen makes these ports for all housing brands, including Aquatica, Nauticam, Sea & Sea, and Ikelite. Although they are a little expensive at $899, they are well worth it!

I can get really close to the subject, like this tiny cowrie you see below, and light it properly. The photos are sharp, even in the corners, as long as I don’t shoot at too open of an aperture. Also, the glass is difficult to scratch, in fact my glass still looks great although it is well-used underwater.

Don’t forget, you can use this dome with your full-frame camera, the Tokina 10-17mm works great with a full-frame, read my article on the Tokina 10-17mm and full-frame cameras for underwater photography.

I wrote a more thorough Zen dome port review here with great example photos, and you can shop for Zen 4-inch glass ports here.
