"I am one extremely satisfied customer of Bluewater Photo. Scott and his crew have not only been extremely supportive in helping with all of my underwater camera needs, they have done what one their manufactures would not in backing up what they sell. I purchased a housing (but not the camera) from Bluewater Photo and the housing flooded, ruining the camera. It turned out that the housing was defective and the manufacturer (with Scott's intervention) replaced it with a new unit. However, the manufacturer refused to pay for or replace the new camera that their defective housing ruined. Scott, with absolutely no pressure from me, insisted that he pay for the ruined camera. I repeatedly told him it was not his fault but he would not take no for an answer. What more can you say about a retailer taking care of his clients?
The crew at Bluewater Photo has also been most helpful when they cheerfully answer any technical answers that I have been unable to get the answers to even by using their excellent web site. Several times I have needed gear just prior to departing on trips and they have gone out of their way to insure that I had what I needed in time for the trip, even if they had to direct me to competitor if they did not have it in stock. They have earned all my business and that of everyone I have referred to them as well." - Dan Kurz, San Diego, CA (back to top)
"I've been an avid underwater photographer for nearly a decade, shooting with Olympus point and shoots (sp550 and c7070) for the majority of that time. While I was extremely happy with those cameras (and still use them from time to time), I decided that I wanted to try something new. So, a few months ago, I began the search for a new dSLR system. However, I had no idea where I should start. Thank goodness for Scott, Mark and the team at Bluewater Photo. They made my transition to the Canon 7D so smooth! Not only did they help me figure out what I should get, they also gave me a ton of really useful advice about how to use the system. What settings are preferable for macro vs. wide-angle? How could I experiment with different points of view and lighting? What are the best practices for traveling with this new gear? How do I clean everything? For every question I asked, they had the answer!
Armed with this new knowledge as well as my Canon 7D/Sea & Sea housing, I took a trip to Bonaire with my newly-certified girlfriend. The trip was a huge success, and I couldn't have been happier with my pictures! It felt amazing hearing friends talk about my pictures as if they were in National Geographic! The camera and housing were perfect for me, and everything I got from Bluewater Photo came in handy during my trip.
To top it all off, Scott was so eager to see my photos when I got back from the trip! He, Mark, and everyone at Bluewater Photo make it really fun to be an underwater photographer. I'll definitely head back there to get my next toy (105mm lens), and I'm excited to go diving with them in the near future!" - Ryan Kissick, Pacific Palisades, CA (back to top)
"I wanted to try out super macro photography but didn't know much about it. I went online and found several articles explaining super macro techniques and equipment. I then called up Bluewater Photo and they helped me put together a super macro set-up specific to my camera housing. After it arrived and I experimented with it I had questions on technique. Scott of Bluewater Photo took the time to answer all of my questions and give me some great tips on how to use the equipment. It was nice to talk to someone so knowledgeable that actually had experience shooting with my specific camera set-up.
Two days before I was scheduled to leave to go to Papua New Guinea, I discovered I was missing an extension ring for my dome port. I called up Bluewater Photo, they knew exactly what I needed, had the part in stock and got it to me the next day. I didn't even have time to panic." - Ron Watkins, Scottsdale, AZ, www.scubarews.com (back to top)
"Great gear, great staff, and people who care about helping their customers succeed -- that in a nutshell summarizes my experiences with Bluewater Photo. When I couldn't find equipment that I needed for a recent dive trip, I talked to Bluewater and they made it happen. I had the equipment before my trip and it was ready to go when I hit the plane a couple of days later. I live in a big state, Texas, but finding anyone who had even a small fraction of the technical knowledge and experience in working with the products that I had an interest in purchasing seemed impossible. When I wasn't sure about how other equipment would work together, Bluewater explained what I needed to buy, and made sure I got all of the items necessary to make the equipment work together. When I installed all of the parts they worked together, perfectly. When I explained what my next likely purchases of equipment would be, they made recommendations that I will be sure to follow. It is the combination of great products, product knowledge and the willingness to help their customers that sets Bluewater Photo apart from the competition. Bravo, Bluewater." - Bruce Campbell, Dallas, TX (back to top)
"As a first time customer of Bluewater Photo, I can certainly say I am impressed. The website was very helpful in terms of the detail provided for the product. Once I ordered, there was a quick follow-up to let me know the order was placed, and then again when it was shipped, and a further follow-up to see how the product was. The product came with all the instructions I needed, and it has performed as I expected, no issues at all. All great! One rarely gets such good customer service these days, and I appreciate it. I will be back as a customer for sure!" - Alice F, Swampscott, MA (back to top)
"Bluewater Photo has been instrumental in getting me the best equipment possible and improving my underwater photography skills. They have a great selection of underwater photo gear, very competitive prices and they make sure you know how to use the gear you buy before you take it into the water. They really know the gear inside and out, especially the specialized settings needed to get the best results from the camera set-up. Their customer service was so great that the owner, Scott Gietler, actually met me offsite to give me the gear I ordered from them to save me the trip to his store or waiting for it to come in the mail." - Michelle H (back to top)
"Last year I purchased my first underwater camera set-up from Bluewater Photo, and I will never buy from anyone else! I purchased the RecSea housing and Sea and Sea strobes for my Canon S95. Honestly, I had NO idea what I was doing, or for that matter, what I was even ordering! I took the advice of Scott and bought the package. When my shipment came, I was beyond confused! There were so many parts to figure out. With many e-mails and phone calls between Scott and myself, I was able to assemble and begin experimenting with my new camera and set-up. Scott, Jason, and Mark spent personal time discussing settings, shots, and lenses with me. I was ready to dive within a few weeks and took off for my month-long dive journey. Unfortunately, my housing suffered an accident. I called Scott from the Philippines and he worked hard to find a solution for me, from the other side of the world. I was so impressed with the service and attention I received from this group that I decided to join in on the group trip to La Paz. Besides having a wonderful time and dive experience, Scott and his group gave us hands on advice to get great shots! In this crazy world and economy, it is rare to find a company that provides such personal attention and care. The difference between Bluewater Photo and other companies is SERVICE. Thank you, Scott and company!" - Tracey Winholt, Chicago, IL (back to top)
"Bluewater Photo is always a delight to do business with. Their staff is always patient and willing to answer questions. They help in not only equipment selection, but then after the purchase to help with getting the equipment set up properly. The bottom-line is this, Bluewater Photo provides great value because of fair pricing and great service. I highly recommend Bluewater Photo!" - John Kotovsky, St. Louis, MO (back to top)
"I want to thank you for all the help you gave me while searching for and purchasing the right camera kit for me. I really appreciate Bluewater Photo not trying to up-sell me on something I did not need. From the first call to receiving the kit everything was handled friendly and professionally. Even after UPS did its best to make sure I did not receive the kit you went out of your way to make sure I had what I needed when I needed it. A great big thanks for that, I doubt many other shops would have given the extra effort. I would not hesitate to purchase from Bluewater photo again and will recommend you to all my friends." - Scott, New York (back to top)
"Even though I live in Canada, as a result of the extraordinary service I received from Bluewater Photo, they have fully earned my customer loyalty. Great care was taken in advising me about equipment and it was clear from the start that the advice was coming from a team that very much knew their stuff and shared a real passion for underwater photography. This became even more evident when I received very thorough and patient advice via a Skype support call. I so appreciated this kindness and truly remarkable customer service. Thank you." - Jackie Hildering, Canada, www.themarinedetective.ca (back to top)
"First off, thank you for following up and asking about my lens. I was impressed that you took the time - little things make a difference for me. I will tell you that the company that I purchased the camera, housing and strobe from never bothered to follow up at all.
I also want to let you know that I stopped to talk to representatives from 3 camera companies at the Beneath The Sea show in March in Secaucus. Kelli was the only person who not only took the time to talk to me, but emailed me shortly afterwards with the information that I had requested. Again, a little thing, but an important one to me.
Thank you again for the recommendation, the speedy delivery, and the excellent customer service - it was all appreciated." - Linda Barnes (back to top)
"I contacted Bluewater Photo after a dive trip using a point and shoot camera set up. It was time to upgrade to dSLR and I had no idea where to start. Scott was great in asking about the type of photography I did in general as well as U/W and recommended the Sony NEX-5N, Recsea aluminum housing and Sea & Sea Y110a strobe. They followed up to see if I had any issues and were always quick to reply to any questions I had. I have only had the opportunity to use the camera for 2 dives, but was very happy with the pictures." - Laura Grim (back to top)
"I really appreciate you taking time to answer my questions - much more helpful than my local shop. After e-mailing with you, I searched ScubaBoard to see what people were saying about the lenses and sent a message to someone who was familiar with both brands. He gave the same answers as you, and I noticed in his profile that he is "Bill, Technical Advisor Bluewater Photo." What a coincidence. i also realized from your website that you operate www.uwphotographyguide.com, which is a tremendous resource that I read all the time." - Paul Waite, Florida (back to top)
"Customer service is the defining edge an underwater photo store can offer. We can buy equipment anywhere. Scott, Mark, and the staff at Bluewater Photo make that effort. I initially purchased a system that did not work well for me. They have gone out of their way to make sure I can minimize expense in changing systems with a goal of making sure I am happy with a system that works well for my specific needs. I appreciate this attitude and effort. I encourage divers looking at a camera system to consult with the folks at Bluewater." - Cindy Shaw, Orange County, CA (back to top)
"I can’t tell you guys how much I appreciate your staff being there when I have questions and how much I look forward to diving with you guys. I have worked hard to be a great diver but know little about photography. My first experience in the water with my EPM1 was incredible, the ys-d1 strobes fired flawlessly and delivered pictures that I only dreamed about. This setup is great, thanks so much for all your help during the selection process." - Ray Harwood, PADI Divemaster, Bakersfield, CA (back to top)
