Nice addition to G12 package
I recently upgraded to the RecSea housing for my G12. Though the G12 has great macro ability built in, I decided to add the Diopter flip lens because I wanted to get much closer to the subjects at hand. It takes some getting used to dial in on the optimal distance to get clear shots, but the results, when you hit it right, are stunning.
A decent set of macro lenses
I purchased the diopter flip lens over a dedicated macro lens because I wanted greater flexibility between macro and non-macro shots. While the flexibility has been a plus, I've been a bit disappointed by the overall performance of the lenses.
The main issue is with the vignetting. To avoid it, you need to zoom in just to the point where the camera won't be able to automatically focus easily, resulting in many a blurry shot (and much frustration).
Using a focus light would probably help but I haven't tried that yet. Would suggest a dedicated macro lens if you're sure you don't need the flexibility.
