Bought this at Bluewater as my first real strobe, and left 2 weeks later to Grand Cayman. Used it for the first time there, and it worked easily, and flawlessly for 18 dives and over 1800 shots during the week, including an entire day of lessons at the Cathy Church Photo Center. The recharge time was just a couple seconds, and the rechargeable batteries easily lasted 4 dives. Only advice is that I changed from the initial arm of two 5" sections, to an arm with an 8" and a 12" section- that is much better and allows much more flexibility in getting shots. The manual intensity control was excellent- makes you think about what you are doing, and is very easy to use. I totally recommend this strobe. I plan to buy a second unit to have two strobes on the camera.

Great for the $

Does a great job for the cost. I use it as a 2nd strobe with a Sea and Sea 110 alpha. Cycles just as fast.

Another solid S&S product

I've been using a single Sea & Sea YS-110A strobe for several years, it's very rugged and dependable. Having recently purchased a YS-01 strobe from Bluewater for my wife's Canon S-95 setup I appreciated the size and convenience of the newer designed series. While it's usually advised to use matching strobes, I took a chance and added the YS-02 as a second strobe for my setup. Good move!

The YS-02 makes a perfect 2d strobe. Simple adjustments (I use a Canon G-11 on manual) and predictable operation. No problem on color balance between the two strobes, recycle times are comparable and the adjustment range for output allows for easy exposure balance. If you don't need a built in target light or DS-TTL this strobe will save you some money over the YS-01 and has the same basic features and output.

Right from the start this strobe has met my expectations. Sea & Sea makes rugged, reliable equipment, and the YS-02 is another example of that approach. You don't have to baby them or spend too many arms and legs to own them. They are a great investment for your UW photography and the YS-02 in particular is a welcome addition to the Sea & Sea line.
