I have been using this lens, along with the +10, with the dual flip holder. I shoot with a compact camera and find this very easy to use and makes my photography is very versatile.

I did have a problem with the +5 lens starting to fog up inside after I had used it for a year. This happened when I went through thermoclines. I contacted the ReefNet, the manufacturer, and they said I could send the lens in for repair and explained the most cost effective way to ship it to Canada. I was pleasantly surprised when they replaced the lens.

Bluewater Photo was also very quick and helpful when I originally ordered the lenses and adapter from them.

Love this +5 diopter

This lens has been fabulous, I've been shooting with it for more than 18mths and I love it. When adding it to my 60mm macro lens I can easily shoot even the smallest subjects like pygmy seahorses, and the photos are clear and sharp.
The adapter allows me to quickly flip it on and off during a dive.

I love how quick and easy this diopter goes into place with the Subsee adapter. The pictures are great; very clear and crisp. I even got recognition from a underwater macro photographer's web site for a photo I submitted of some tiny plankton after using it only a few times. I have already put the Subsee +10 diopter on my Christmas wish list. I highly advise anyone purchasing a Subsee diopter to get the matching adapter. You only have so much time underwater, so why waste time attaching wet lenses to your housing when you can just flip one of these into place. I switch back and forth between close-up and macro, so this set-up is a huge time saver.

I am new to underwater photography with a full sized camera and I purchased this diopter with the recommendation of the guys at Blue Water Photo and it was amazing. Very clear photos and easy to use

Works great with 60mm and better with 85mm

I recently purchased the +5 SubSee diopter prior to my recent trip to Anilao in the Philippines, fortunately it arrived two days before my trip. I also purchased the flip up holder for my Sea&Sea 60mm macro port (which also houses the 85mm micro lens) and it works brilliant, much easier to use than the MacroMate I have for my 105mm lens / port.

Some of the critters in Anilao are tiny, and for sure without this lens in my kit I would have been struggling to get decent shots without the +5 diopter. +10 now on order, and for sure at some stage perhaps a dual holder for my 105 port.

Super macro lens with great clarity

I purchased this diopter along with the adapter from Blue Water. I thought that I could perhaps utilize my Inon lenses with the Subsee housing but the diameters are not compatible. Besides that this diopter is in my opinion far superior to the Inon. It seats nicely into the bracket and with the included lens cover can be securely stowed by putting it in front of your port. The resolution with the lens is superb and it offers the option of using it or swinging it out of the way for a little wider FOV. I found myself getting used to the short range quickly and could get a nice focus by the end of the first dive with it. This is a great addition to your port for a decent price.

High quality product

High quality product. Provides great images when lens is stopped down and subject is well lit. A definite learning curve here. The +10 is also a lot of fun, but recommend getting some comfort with the +5 first. Works great with the custom flip-in/flip-out adapter from SubSee. Recommended product!

"Superb Macro Lens"

Bought this lens to add to my system after seeing some photos from my friend who had this on his SLR. My system was based around the Canon G12, a stepping stone while I awaited the 5DmkIII, and it made a great addition to my photo trip to the Philippines.

Sturdy build quality, great sharpness, improves the DOF ability. Combined this and the dual hinged adapter so I had the option of both the +5 & +10 for greater flexibility. A focus light helped the focusing issues in some low light situations too as the G12 struggled from time to time without. Once I had the sweet spot dialed in I was more than happy with the results.

All in all very impressed and especially with the service from Scott and the team

Not sure what to do with it underwater when not in use???

I was surprised how hefty, yet elegant, my Subsee 5+ diopter is compared to other diopters I have seen. They are rather hard to find. Unfortunately I haven’t figured out how to use it properly. I’m using Nauticam 67 mm adapter on a Panasonic kit lens – but I am not sure what to do with the diopter (where to keep it) when I’m not using it (underwater). I can probably maneuver it into my pocket - but that is not a very workable solution (very awkward). Obviously there is something else I need to buy to get better use out of it. No doubt it is operator error. I haven’t given up.

I had originally intended on buying an Inon macro lens, but after Scott recommended the SubSea, I checked online and saw how highly it was recommended. The cost seemed to be the similar, so I tried it out and so far am very pleased. I really have not had a great chance to capture any great macro subjects as I have only done a few dives, but cant wait to see what we can do next month in Indonesia.
