Scott Gietler, Owner

 

 

 

 

 

 

Scott is the founder of Bluewater Photo and the Underwater Photography Guide, and one of the world's leading experts in underwater photography education and camera / lens reviews. 

Scott lives in Marina Del Rey with his lovely wife Penny and new baby Ryan. They have traveled together throughout the world on diving and non-diving trips together.

If possible he tries to get out diving each week with some of the other members of the Bluewater photo & Underwater Photography Guide staff.

An avid marine naturalist, Scott is the author of the Field Guide to Southern California Marine Life. He was the LAUPS photographer of the year for 2009, and his photos have appeared in magazines, coffee table & marine life books, museums, galleries and aquariums throughout California. He is a regular contributor to Scuba Diving and Sport diving magazines, and he teaches underwater photography locally on a regular basis on local trips and international workshops.

He regularly uses a Canon compact, Olympus mirrorless camera, and several Nikon dSLR cameras.

Kelli is a scuba instructor and underwater photography with a long history of running operations for small businesses. She oversees all the customer orders, and is an expert using high-end compact and mirrorless camera systems.

She attended University of Arizona, and is a regular triathalon participant and has even completed an Ironman.

Shane is a scuba instructor, world traveler, technical diver, and an experienced underwater photographer using compact and mirrorless cameras. From the smallest screws & o-rings, to housings, regulators, and travel bags, Shane is our product specialist and is an expert is customizing the best possible kit for the customer.

 

Mark Strickland, dSLR and travel specialist

Mark Strickland’s life-long interest in the sea has included over 10,000 dives and careers as lifeguard, boat captain and scuba instructor. His passion for underwater photography has led him to many top dive locales, including Virgin Islands, Australia, and Thailand, where he spent 17 years as Cruise Director on a series of live-aboards. Mark now resides in Ventura county, California.

An avid marine naturalist, Mark has discovered several nudibranch species. He is co-author and principle photographer for Lonely Planet’s award-winning book, “Diving and Snorkeling Thailand”, and his work appears in many magazines, books and displays around the world. Currently, Mark leads several dive trips each year to his favorite destinations, while working on a career-spanning large-format pictorial book.

Mark's photos and articles have appeared in magazines and books around the world, including Action Asia, BBC Wildlife, National Geographic World, Natural History, Scuba Diving, Skin Diver, Sport Diver, Sportdiving, Unterwasser and many others.

 

Todd Winner, Photo Pro extraordinaire

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Todd Winner has traveled the world shooting underwater images, and is considered one of the top wide-angle shooters in the world. His work has be published in several magazines and web sites including, Sport Diver, Scuba Diving, Wetpixel, Photographer and Discovery. He has won numerous international awards for his underwater and travel photography, including LAUPS best of show.

Todd writes the "Shooter's Toolbox" column for the Underwater Photography Guide, and is a big part of our training, classes and workshops. Todd is also an expert in Canon and Nikon dSLR cameras and lenses.
