Garmin X50i Dive Computer Review

garmin x50i dive computer

A New Era in Dive Technology

Garmin continues to push boundaries and redefine expectations with the launch of the Descent X50i — its first large-format dive computer. Built for clarity, communication, and performance, this computer offers a high-visibility display and robust underwater connectivity.

The X50i features a 3-inch color touchscreen display that is crisp, vibrant, and easy to read. The touchscreen is functional only at the surface; once submerged, divers operate the computer using reliable metal buttons, ideal for gloved hands.

Garmin’s SubWave™ technology allows divers to send preset messages to their buddies and monitor tank pressure for up to 8 divers within a 10-meter range when paired with the Descent T2 transmitters. This is an especially valuable tool for divemasters and instructors, enhancing safety and team coordination.

An integrated emergency LED light adds an extra layer of safety. Imagine being on a night dive and both your primary and backup torches fail — it’s reassuring to know the X50i has a reliable backup light built in.

Rated to 200 meters, the X50i is suitable for both recreational and technical divers. It supports all major dive modes, including:

  • Single Gas
  • Multi Gas
  • Nitrox
  • Trimix
  • CCR
  • Gauge
  • Apnea

Whether you enjoy freediving, technical diving, or anything in between, the X50i has you covered.

With Garmin Dive™ app integration, your dives sync automatically. View your profiles, log dives, and share them instantly from your smart device — managing your logbook has never been easier.

The battery is designed for performance:

  • Up to 16 hours of dive time per charge (at medium
    brightness)
  • Up to 25 days in smartwatch mode

Above water, the X50i functions as a full-featured GPS multisport watch, perfect for logging your hike-ins or marking dive site coordinates.
