The GoPro Hero 12 is waterproof down to 33 feet without a housing, but if you're planning on diving deeper or shooting in extreme conditions, you'll want to invest in a GoPro underwater housing (GoPro underwater housings are waterproof down to 196 feet and protect your Hero 12 from dust, shock, and scratches) or third party housings which offer superior strength and durability underwater, and can be taken deeper without any worries about flooding. The Anglerfish Hero 12 Large Underwater Housing is the one for you if you're looking for a housing with a straightforward design. However, don't disregard housing. It is made of aircraft grade aluminum, which makes it strong and able to withstand damage. The front lens features an AR coating and is made of sapphire glass. Four M14 bulkhead ports are present on the housing for third-party accessories. To reduce battery changes, the housing also has a sizable compartment for larger batteries.
