Inon X-2 R6 III Underwater Housing for Canon EOS R6 Mark III
Getting consistent flash exposure, reliable sealing, and precise control access is where most underwater systems succeed—or fail. The Inon X-2 R6 III underwater housing addresses those pain points directly, pairing a lightweight, ultra-precision aluminum body with an unusually sophisticated control and flash integration for a compact canon underwater housing.
What immediately sets this canon r6 underwater housing apart in real-world use is the built-in ultra-accurate TTL Converter, included as a standard feature. Developed specifically around INON’s strobe flash protocol, it optically triggers compatible INON strobes while delivering stable, repeatable TTL exposure underwater. Unlike add-on converters we’ve supported in the past, this one allows direct strobe power adjustment from the camera, ranging from 1/64 to FULL in 1/3 EV steps—something customers often don’t realize until we walk them through it during setup. This is especially useful when strobes are mounted far out on long arms or when shooting backlit scenes where quick fine-tuning matters.
The housing also supports up to 12 frames per second continuous shooting, so you’re not sacrificing burst performance, and includes INON’s patented Vacuum Leak Sensor (PAT. P) as standard. In practice, this system cuts leak-check time down to about three minutes while remaining sensitive enough to detect very fine leaks—without the false alarms that plague simpler pressure sensors during temperature changes.
On the handling side, the newly developed S-MRS (Magnetic Rotary System) port interface improves manual focus and zoom feel with noticeably less play than earlier designs. For shooters combining the EOS R6 series with RF lenses, this enables effective use of MF Peaking and focus guide functions for ultra-precise manual focusing. The system supports up to three magnetic control rings, allowing simultaneous control of focus, zoom, and lens control rings depending on configuration.
Optional accessories expand the system further. The Quick Shoe System allows rapid switching between landscape and portrait orientation without repositioning lighting—something advanced shooters appreciate for vertical compositions and low-angle work. Optional viewfinders are also available for a brighter, clearer finder image, depending on your shooting style.
Important note from support: this housing is optimized around INON strobes and optical TTL workflows. If you’re expecting electrical bulkheads, universal third-party TTL behavior, or a fully video-centric control layout, this is not the right underwater housing for your system.
- Best for: experienced shooters building a compact canon r6 III underwater housing for travel and strobe-based photography.
- Not for: users expecting built-in electronic TTL or plug-and-play video accessories.
- Mechanical control layout prioritizes core exposure and AF functions.
- Optical-only strobe triggering workflow (no assumption of electrical bulkheads).

Lightweight and compact ultra-precision cast aluminum body
The X-2 R6 iii combines design, weight, and durability in a way that is unparalleled by its corrosion-resistant aluminum alloy construction and ultraprecise casting manufacturing process.
Thin body plates with intricate curved designs are made possible by the cast production process, which is not achievable with machining. Even in harsh underwater conditions, the lightweight and sturdy aluminum alloy body has gained dependability, longevity, and controllability.
Built in TTL for Ultra-accurate Strobe Firing
With the "TTL Converter" included as standard equipment, you can experience fully automatic TTL by optically triggering the INON strobe. specifically designed for INON strobe, with its flash protocol serving as the foundation for enhancing its underwater performance. We have developed the TTL Converter, an underwater strobe maker that offers consistent, reliable, and extremely accurate TTL exposure.
Strobe manual power is directly adjustable from camera
The camera directly controls the manual output strength of the INON strobe, which may be adjusted in 1/3EV steps between 1/64 and FULL. This may be useful for backlit photography or for strobing at a distance, such as with a long strobe arm.
High Speed Strobe Firing - 12 shots/sec
[High speed continuous][High speed continuous+] is completely supported by the TTL Converter. Continuous shooting using ultra-accurate TTL photography is now possible thanks to power stored in a capacitor 6. With just two CR2032 coin batteries, the INON TTL Converter successfully triggers more than 100,000 flashes, striving for efficiency in power consumption to avoid missing any important moments.
Built-in "Vacuum leak sensor"
The "Vacuum Leak Sensor" buzzes and blinks an LED during diving to alert users to the possibility of flooding. It also monitors the air pressure inside the housing to maintain housing sealing. By using a variable control software, the onboard pressure sensor modifies its sensitivity for leak detection and diving (PAT. P).
Even minute leaks are picked up by the incredibly sensitive pressure sensor. Not like traditional leak sensors, it reduces test time significantly (from 30 seconds to 3 minutes). Even in the event of temperature variations, false alarms are eliminated by the dive mode's sensitivity.
New S-MRS Port
The recently created S-MRS (Magnetic Rotary System) uses magnetic attraction to regulate zooming and focusing. When compared to the previous model, the new S-MRS operates more smoothly and with less play or rattle. The EOS R6 Mark II can also be utilized for full-time manual focusing when coupled with an RF lens to enable the usage of the MF Peaking function. This allows for ultra-precise focusing when combined with the focus guide function.
To operate the Control Ring, Focus Ring, and SA Control Ring, a maximum of three MRS Control Rings may be fitted.
"Quick Shoe System" for quick camera positioning
Fast switching between landscape and portrait camera orientation is possible with the optional "Quick Shoe W50 Plate" attached to the housing body, the "Quick Shoe Main Base" that uses INON's own Arca Swiss system, and two "D5 Holder" handles.
It not only enables you to photograph vertical composition from low angles, which is not possible with conventional systems, but it also enables you to do so without changing the lighting position.

The Canon R6 MK III Underwater
Designed as a true hybrid workhorse, the Canon EOS R6 Mark III is built for creators who demand high performance across both still photography and video. It combines a newly developed 32.5MP full-frame CMOS sensor with DIGIC X processing, delivering a noticeable step forward in resolution, speed, autofocus intelligence, and video capability compared to previous R6 models. The result is a camera that comfortably handles fast action, detailed stills, and advanced video workflows in a single, refined body.
For photographers, the resolution bump provides greater cropping flexibility and improved fine detail without sacrificing low-light performance. Continuous shooting reaches up to 40 fps with the electronic shutter (or 12 fps mechanically), with full AF and AE tracking between frames. Canon’s Pre-Continuous Shooting mode adds another safety net for unpredictable moments by buffering up to 20 frames before the shutter is fully pressed—an invaluable feature for wildlife, sports, and behavioral photography.
Video capabilities see some of the most significant upgrades. The R6 Mark III supports internal 7K recording up to 60p in 12-bit Canon RAW Light, along with Open Gate 7K 30p capture for maximum flexibility in post-production. Oversampled 4K FINE recording delivers exceptionally sharp footage, while high-speed 4K 120p enables smooth slow-motion playback. These options position the camera as a serious tool for filmmakers and content creators who need both resolution and frame-rate versatility.
Autofocus performance is handled by Dual Pixel CMOS AF II with Movie Servo AF, featuring improved subject detection and tracking, including Register People Priority. In-body stabilization has also been strengthened, offering up to 8.5 stops of 5-axis image stabilization, which benefits both handheld stills and video work—especially when paired with stabilized RF lenses.
Handling and usability continue to evolve. The camera features a 3.69-million-dot OLED EVF with OVF View Assist, a 3.0-inch 1.62-million-dot vari-angle touchscreen LCD, and a dual-slot memory configuration that accepts CFexpress Type B and SD UHS-II cards for flexible recording options. Connectivity is modern and streamlined via the Multi-Function Shoe, built-in Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth, supporting accessories and wireless workflows.
