Jamie has been diving for 19 years and is a certified dive instructor, with a degree in Ichthyology.
Born into a family of scuba instructors and dive shop owners in Sodwana Bay, South Africa, Jamie has been diving for almost 2 decades and followed in her family's footsteps to become a SCUBA instructor herself. With a love for traveling, she has explored many beautiful dive sites across the globe. Most recently, she managed a dive operation in Fiji until joining the team at Bluewater.
With a degree in Ichthyology, she has a strong passion for fish, and her dream is to discover her own species (or two). She always has time for some fishy questions and conversations! This love spreads across the underwater environment and marine conservation, where she focuses lots of her spare time. Jamie has iniated coral restoration efforts where she has worked, and aims to do more.
When she's not thinking about fish, she's probably thinking about dive gear. Jamie loves helping fellow SCUBA enthusiasts get the most out of their diving experience. Working at Bluewater as the Scuba Marketing Coordinator allows her to do exactly that!
What's in Jamie's Dive Bag?
She believes that reliable gear is worth holding onto, and has been diving with the same Mares BCD for years. Jamie uses an Aqualung Micron regulator- which she finds to be ultra durable and lightweight for her travels. For fins, she dives with Mares Razor Pro freediving fins, which may be unconventional, but she finds navigating tricky conditions much easier with longer fins, which is particularly handy when teaching students. Camera wise, she is quite content with her Olympus Tough TG6, but may be tempted to upgrade to a more advanced set-up in the future.
