Through our experience, we have discovered a few crucial accessories that will upgrade your GoPro footage if you are starting out as a beginner. They are small upgrades, but we found that that make a world of difference from the get-go.

GoPro Trays-
You may have noticed that your footage can be 'shaky', especially in challenging or dynamic environments. A GoPro tray is the first step in achieving stability in your footage. Another advantage of using a tray is that it acts as a base for mounting video lights and additional accessories. You may choose to begin with a single-handle tray and upgrade to a dual-handle tray over time.
Spare Batteries and chargers-
In our experience, there is few things more disappointing than running out of battery when you still have a few dives to follow, or have a sighting of a lifetime! There is a simple solution to this common issue- spare batteries and chargers! Carrying spare batteries ensures that you won't miss these important moments. Some housings, such as the Anglerfish GoPro housing, even accommodate for extra battery packs within the housing.
Protective Housings-
While GoPros are already waterproof down to a certain depth, most being rated to 33ft (10m), an underwater housing allows you to dive deeper with fewer worries. Some housings are rated to a depth of 300m! The housing also adds extra protection for your GoPro, ensuring that it remains in great condition for longer.
Filters-
Water naturally absorbs light, and red is the first color to disappear, making your GoPro footage appear blue and possibly dull. If you are diving shallow, you may not need video lights to correct this. Instead, simple red and magenta filters can do just the trick to help restore natural looking colors.

Video Lights-
Video lights are exceptional tools in restoring vibrant colors underwater, improving contrast and capturing small details that would otherwise be lost. We thoroughly enjoy using video lights with our GoPros, especially when going slightly deeper or in poor visibility conditions.
Wet Lenses-
Wet lenses can completely upgrade your footage and allows for more creativity. Depending on what you are indending to capture, the following wet lenses can be used for your GoPro:
Wide-angle lenses allow you to capture more in a single frame, such as larger reef scenes, wrecks or larger animals.
Macro lenses can help you capture tiny subjects with better detail and magnification.
Float-Arms and Buoyancy Systems-
As you start adding accessories to you GoPro and tray, you may find that your rig will get increasingly heavier and become more challenging to handle over longer dives. A good way to compensate for the extra weight is to add float-arms to your tray, making it more buoyant and balanced underwater.
