To date Marelux has not offficially announced an underwater housing for the Sony a6700, but we think it would be a great option if in fact they do. Marelux underwater housings are built from a high-quality, anodized aluminum alloy that not only feels incredibly solid in hand but also offers outstanding durability and resistance to corrosion from saltwater. What we love about these housings is how tough they are - during our dives, especially when shore diving, it held up better than anything else I’ve used. It’s extremely scratch-resistant, and even after a few bumps and bangs during entry and exit, it still looked almost brand new. That level of resilience is exactly what we look for when choosing a housing for this type of photography.
Another plus we appreciate about Marelux underwater housings are their thoughtful design. They are surprisingly easy to assemble, thanks to its compact and straightforward mechanical structure. Unlike other housings we’ve worked with, we didn’t have to struggle with awkward fittings or complex components. The controls are all right where you need them—intuitive and accessible, even when I’m wearing thick dive gloves.
A further feature we love about these housing, is the large port opening, which makes changing lenses or ports a breeze. It's not fiddly to remove the lens, and lens opportunity to scratch the o-ring surfaces make this a huge positive whne wanting to change set-ups between dives.
The housing is also fully compatible with a vacuum system (sold separately). This is incredibly reassuring, as you can then test the integrity of the seal before every dive and have that extra peace of mind knowing the gear is watertight. The system uses a simple visual indicator to let you know all seals are working as they should be.
And as a bonus, Marelux offers this housing in several custom color finishes, which not only look great but make it easy to identify your rig on a busy dive boat or camera station. For us, Marelux offers a perfect combination of durability, functionality, and style, we just hope they release a housing for the Sony a6700 in the near future.
