This complete Underwater Lighting System is designed by iDiveSite (previously known as iTorch) for underwater photography and videography. Symbiosis is defined as an interaction between two different organisms living in close physical association, typically to the advantage of both. With this, video light and strobe are now in one body. They could work at the same time or separately. When new video light heads are released, the video light can be upgraded by purchasing just the LED head in order to have an up-to-date video light.

The iTorch/iDiveSite Symbiosis is the latest addition to the Symbiosis series. It is very simple to use and flip through settings. It offers a guide number of 20 and features 2800 lumens LED output with up to 700 flashes. The benefits of having a strobe & video light all condensed into one device are massive; Less gear to carry, less weight to deal with, and less maintenance. Most importantly, you'll never have to decide if you'd like to shoot stills or video on a dive - you can do both!

Our staff has taken this strobe out on multiple dives. We found the Symbiosis SS3 strobe is an ideal strobe for macro photography, though it can be used for wide angle as well. Its small, compact size and dome diffuser result in nice, even lighting with small subjects. For better wide angle results and a more powerful strobe, be sure to check out the iDiveSite Symbiosis SS2R strobe. The Symbiosis SSR strobe also comes with a video light and has a guide number of 32.

Symbiosis SS3 Features

Easy mounting for any underwater housing.
Universal Fiber Optic Cable Mount. The SS-3 uses the Sea & Sea style plug in fiber optic cable which is fairly universal across most housing brands.
Intuitive TTL Training Mode. Never worry if the strobe will match the camera flash again. The SS-3 includes a TTL Training Mode which learns the output of your camera flash and allows you quickly sync the strobe and your camera regardless of how the camera pre-flashes.
Long Battery Life. The Symbiosis SS-3 includes a high capacity battery which allows for up to 700 flashes or 55 minutes burn time with the video light on full power. When using a mix of strobe and video light the total life will be a combination of the two..
