The Ikelite 200DL is a purpose-built underwater housing for the Canon EOS R6 V, a video-focused full-frame camera that is particularly appealing for high-resolution reef, wreck, pelagic, macro, and professional underwater video work. It gives R6 V shooters access to Ikelite's broad DL lens-port ecosystem while keeping the housing architecture straightforward, corrosion-resistant, and easier on the budget than premium aluminum alternatives.
For a working underwater rig, you will still need the correct DL port, extension and/or lens gear specified for your lens. Bluewater Photo strongly recommends confirming the complete camera → lens → gear → extension → port combination before ordering.
- Best for: Canon EOS R6 V owners building a serious full-frame underwater video or hybrid system.
- Main advantage: DL port compatibility with native Canon RF lenses and supported EF lenses used with an adapter.
- Compatibility: Designed specifically for the Canon EOS R6 V; other camera bodies should not be assumed to fit.
- Major differentiator: Clear rear housing section makes it easy to visually inspect the camera and rear O-ring seal before entering the water.
- Tradeoff: Rated to 200 ft / 60 m rather than the 100 m rating of some premium aluminum competitors, and several R6 V controls are not accessible through the housing.

See the Seal Before You Splash
A housing is only useful when you trust the seal. Ikelite's clear rear section lets you inspect the rear O-ring seating and visually check that the camera remains dry, which is especially useful during rushed boat entries or multi-dive days.
- Direct visual inspection of the rear O-ring
- Easier confirmation that the camera is seated correctly
- Pairs well with an optional pre-dive vacuum test
- Useful for diagnosing setup issues before entering the water
DL Port System for Wide Angle and Macro
The port is not a generic cover for the lens. Underwater, the correct dome diameter, flat port, extension length, and lens position directly affect field of view, corner sharpness, focusing, and handling. The 71774 uses Ikelite's full-size DL Dry Lock system, which supports a broad range of Canon full-frame lens combinations. Some of our favorite lenses are:
- Canon RF 7-14mm F2.8-3.5 L Fisheye
- Canon RF 100mm F2.8 L Macro
- Canon RF 14-35mm F4 L
- Canon RF 15-30mm F4.5-6.3 IS STM
Always check the current Ikelite port chart before ordering.

Endless Expandability
An optional LCD hood (sold separately) attaches easily to the rear mounting rails on the back of the housing to protect against the annoying glare when shooting in shallow, sunny conditions.
If you need to add an external monitor, integrated M16 and M24 accessory ports are built-in and ready to attach a third party accessory.
If you plan to capture some stills while you're under, it's simple to add a flash bulkhead and hotshoe or fiber optic trigger. Use the TT5 Canon TTL Fiber Optic Transmitter for fiber optic triggering or the Bulkhead & Hotshoe Upgrade Kit for Canon for electrical triggering.
It is necessary to add the Canon AD-E1 Multi-Function Shoe Adapter to attach a flash hotshoe to the camera. The Canon AD-E1 is not available from Ikelite.

Why Buy Your Ikelite Housing from Bluewater Photo?
Ikelite has decades of experience building underwater imaging equipment in the USA, and every housing is designed around a specific camera body rather than treated as a generic waterproof shell. More importantly, an underwater housing purchase is rarely just a housing purchase — the lens, port, extension, gear, lighting, triggering, buoyancy, and rigging all need to work together.
Bluewater Photo can help verify the complete system before it ships, which is particularly valuable with Canon RF lenses where port combinations vary substantially by lens.
Content reviewed by Bluewater Photo staff, recognized as the #1 online retailer specializing in underwater photography and scuba diving equipment, with real-world experience supporting, selling, and configuring underwater camera systems.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Ikelite 71774 housing fit the Canon EOS R6 V?
Yes. The Ikelite 71774 200DL housing is specifically designed for the Canon EOS R6 V, and other Canon R6-series bodies should not be assumed to fit.
Does this Ikelite housing include a lens port?
No. A compatible Ikelite DL lens port is required for waterproof operation and must be selected according to the lens you plan to use.
Which lenses can I use with the Canon R6 V underwater?
Ikelite supports multiple Canon RF lenses plus selected EF lenses with an adapter. Port, extension, and gear requirements vary, so check the current Ikelite port chart or ask Bluewater Photo to verify your exact lens.
Can I access every R6 V control underwater?
No. The housing does not provide directional operation of the Multi-controller joystick, the rear control wheel, front record button, or electronic W/T function; zoom is operated through the housing's side knob and appropriate lens gearing.
Can I vacuum-test the Ikelite Canon R6 V housing?
Yes. The housing supports pre-dive vacuum testing, but the vacuum pump is sold separately with the standard housing configuration.
Can I charge the Canon R6 V without opening the housing?
Yes, with Ikelite's optional USB-C charging bulkhead. The Deluxe housing configuration includes the USB bulkhead along with additional accessories.
Can I use underwater strobes with this housing?
Yes, but triggering hardware is configuration-dependent. Ikelite offers fiber-optic and electrical options, and a Canon AD-E1 Multi-Function Shoe Adapter is required when connecting a flash hotshoe to the R6 V.
How should I maintain the housing after diving?
Rinse the assembled housing thoroughly in fresh water after saltwater use, operate the controls during the rinse, and keep the sealing surfaces clean. Inspect the O-rings before every closure and use only the appropriate lubricant in a light film.
