Trip Overview
The trip starts and ends in San Jose del Cabo, before heading to the Revillagigedo Archipelago, including Socorro Island, Roca Partida, and San Benedicto Island. Guests can dive up to four times a day, with exceptional opportunities to interact with large pelagics up close.
Bluewater Travel’s Spring 2028 expedition to Socorro is designed for divers seeking consistent, high-adrenaline encounters with large ocean life in one of the world’s most remote and productive dive regions. This liveaboard expedition is timed for peak humpback season, and if you're lucky, you may see or hear whales during your dives.
With multiple dives per day and a strong emphasis on in-water time, this trip delivers repeat big-animal encounters during peak season. Guests can expect a comfortable liveaboard, small dive groups, and the kind of thrilling, action-packed diving that defines true pelagic adventures.
To learn more about what to expect from this trip, refer to our latest Socorro Trip Report.
Dive Overview
The Revillagigedo Islands offer a once-in-a-lifetime experience with large ocean pelagic species. Divers can encounter a wide variety of sharks, including hammerheads, tiger sharks, Galapagos sharks, and silky sharks, along with dolphins, tuna, barracudas, and vast schools of jacks. The region is also known for its famously friendly manta rays.
This period coincides with peak humpback whale season, so water temperatures are slightly cooler.
Diving Conditions
March is an excellent time for diving in Socorro, as it falls within the peak diving season from November to May. This period offers divers a chance to encounter remarkable marine life, including giant manta rays, playful dolphins, and schooling hammerhead sharks.
- Water Temperature: 75F-80F (24-27C) degrees in November and December, beginning of January, late April and May. Expect cooler temperatures between 70-74F (21-23C) in late January, February, March, and beginning of April.
- Visibility: Varies depending on the dive site, season, currents, and other conditions. Roca Partida often has the best visibility, reaching over 100 feet. There are sometimes reports of lower visibility in November/December (when whale sharks are found feeding on plankton).
- Depth Range: 33-100ft (10-30m)
