It is not compatible with HERO models that lack removable lens covers (e.g., HERO Mini, HERO White, or HERO Silver). The core components include a durable FLIP13 filter frame, two optical filters calibrated for underwater color correction (DIVE and DEEP), and a +15 MacroMate Mini close-up lens—all optimized for underwater GoPro workflows.

Underwater environments naturally filter out colors, beginning with reds at shallow depths and progressing to blues and greens as depth increases. For users recording video with a GoPro underwater, this creates footage with a heavy blue or green tint and an overall lack of contrast. Digital post-processing offers limited recovery and is no substitute for true optical correction at the time of capture.

Both filters attach to a single, anodized aluminum FLIP13 frame that securely mounts to the GoPro housing and enables one-finger operation underwater. This filter frame design—known as a GoPro flip filter system—allows users to instantly flip between filters as they change depth during a dive, without needing to surface or disassemble any part of the camera housing.
