The highly anticipated YS-D1 strobe is the latest strobe from Sea & Sea, this is the most versatile and highest performing strobe they have ever produced. This is a hot item - a must have for most underwater photographers. Smaller than the YS-110a, and much more powerful, with a price of only $699!

Great compact strobes ideal for travel:
+ versatile strobe with fine control for WA and TTL for MACRO
+ light weight and buoyancy neutral
+ even ligthing for WA with the 100 degree diffuser
+ powerfull strobe capable of handling 4 frames/sec @ 1/4 power
Bought a pair of these as one of my Inon 240's crapped out for no apparent reason and could not be repaired. Very happy with them--easy to adjust the settings, compact size, plenty of light. I can recommend these without a doubt.
This strobe is great! I only use this as a single strobe and it does amazing by itself! A second one would be great, but I don't need it all the same. I've used the YS-01 before this a couple of times and the difference in photography is huge. The colors come off exponentially better. Its a very bright strobe, and the single strobe suffices with a 120 degree diffuser while I take photos with an 8mm fisheye lens. It has survived many beach dives and deep dives without any sign of flooding. It is very easy to control and the TTL works great. It is also very easy to use manually. The only downside is the battery life is not as long as the YS-01 because it is so powerful. But you can still get a good 500 shots out of it taking pictures of sunballs. On a not so bright day then it should last you around four dives just fine.
I replaced my reconditioned YS-90 and YS-110a strobes strobes with 2 YS-D1s for a trip to Fiji this summer. The new strobes are very powerful and very fast to recycle. The older strobes had power switches that rotated in opposite directions, so having consistency was nice. I took most of my closeup and medium photos with diffusers on both strobes and had plenty of light. The other plus is that the new strobes are smaller and lighter than the older ones, which was nice because Air Pacific and Sun Airlines (local Fiji) are getting very picky about luggage weight.
